The year that was . . .

30 December, 2015

As another year passes we look back on the year that was. Many reflect on their successes and accomplishments, while others look to their fears and failures. Whatever this year held we all look to the New Year with new hopes and dreams.

This has been one of the most rewarding and toughest years for me. I have been lucky enough to travel the east coast of Australia chasing four different Royal shows, attended both national and international championships and have made some new life-long friends along the way. But not everything has been smooth sailing and I am not ashamed to admit it.

The toughest time for me was losing not one but both of my loving dogs within 2 months of each other (old age and a neurological disease) which has taken its toll on my business growth and me personally. I have also learnt the value of time and how no matter what you do each day a little time slips away never to return. Here is a long bit of wisdom I found online a few months ago that really hit home for me, you don't have to read it all but if anything read the first part.

“Imagine there is a bank account that credits your account each morning with $86,400. It carries over no balance from day to day.
Every evening the bank deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course?
Each of us has such a bank. Its name is TIME.
Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds.
Every night it writes off as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to a good purpose.
It carries over no balance. It allows no over draft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the remains of the day.
If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours. There is no drawing against "tomorrow."
You must live in the present on today's deposits. Invest it so as to get from it the utmost in health, happiness and success!
The clock is running!! Make the most of today.

To realise the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.
To realise the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.
To realise the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realise the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realise the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who just missed a train.
To realise the value of ONE SECOND, ask someone who just avoided an accident.
To realise the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal at the Olympics.

So make the most of your time in this New Year. Go and learn that hobby you have always wanted to do, get out of your comfort zone and test your limits (but be safe horse people!), visit that destination that has been on your bucket list forever. Make the most of now and enjoy life because no one gets out alive! (A little morbid I know, but the truth).

"Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.”
