There’s something truly magical about combining horses with sunflowers. Late last year just before Christmas, I had the pleasure of photographing Maryanna, her horses Bonscott and Dancer, and her family at one of my exclusive sunflower sessions held on a private property in Cooranbong.
Bonscott and Dancer are full siblings, both Quarter Horse x Arabians, and they were absolutely stunning to photograph among the tall golden blooms. Despite the vibrant scenery, it was the connection between Maryanna and her horses that really stood out. These sessions are always special, but this one felt especially heart-warming so close to the holidays.
The session included a mix of portraits with Maryanna and each horse, a few group images with the family, and plenty of candid, relaxed moments in between. Sunflower sessions are designed to be short and sweet, but they still manage to deliver a wide variety of images, something Maryanna clearly appreciated, as she chose to upgrade her package to include the full collection from our time together.
It was such a joy capturing this beautiful bond in such a unique and vibrant setting. If you’ve ever dreamed of having portraits with your horse in a sunflower field, keep an eye out for future sunflower session announcements on my social media accounts or click here to be put on the pre-register list.
