My photo session with Skyla was a blast! We had a fabulous, warm afternoon on the banks of the Hawkesbury River, and I have to admit it is one of my favourite photo session locations. Skyla is a young German Shepherd who loves to run, play, hang out with her pet parents and steal socks from the laundry. I remember reading her session form and thinking this is going to be a really fun session!
Although Skyla likes to play, she had a solid sit and stay, which helped me capture many different images. We started out on the banks of the river, and after asking her to stay out of the water we let Skyla go and boy she really made a splash! We also used her natural fetch instinct to capture some images of her running directly towards me, tongue flapping and with a huge smile. With higher energy and younger dogs, I like to use their energy in the photo session in a positive way. By letting dogs do something they like to do allows us to ask them to stand still when needed. After all that running Skyla was more than happy to stand still for some silhouette images, plus images with her pet parents.
