Sandy and Candy's photo session at Mount Hunter

20 July, 2021

Meet 22 year old Candy and 43 year old Sandy, the totally adorable seniors who are kicking butt. That's right, Sandy the Welsh Pony is 43 years old! With that age does come some health issues, including loss of vision, which is where Candy comes in. Candy is Sandy's faithful paddock mate, she is the eyes of this cheeky operation.

Both Candy and Sandy are very much loved ponies living their best lives. Their owner, Jess, was gifted a photo session gift voucher and she specification wanted a photo of her two ponies together, as well as photos of them individually. She was a bit worried that it would be difficult to get both older ponies to cooperate and stand for a photo, but, with the help of my photo halters and Photoshop, we easily captured numerous images of both ponies being extra cute.

The agistment property where Candy and Sandy lived was simply stunning, lush green grass with a beautiful driveway. As the ponies were old, we didn't want to disturb them by taking them off the property, especially Sandy.

To be in the presence of a horse/pony who was born a decade before me was quite surreal, and I am so glad Jess had the opportunity to have these memories captured now.

If there was one image to sum up their friendship, it would be this one.
