Remembering Dazzle - photo session at home

Some sessions hold a special place in my heart, and my recent time with Belle and her beloved gelding, Dazzle, was one of those. This was an end-of-life session, a bittersweet opportunity to capture the deep bond between both. Belle wanted a series of photos that would remind her of the beautiful years they’ve shared, and we couldn’t have chosen a more meaningful setting than Belle’s home, where so many of their memories were made.

We began in the tree-lined driveway, and thankfully the weather cleared up for our session as it had rained a lot the days leading up to it. We began the session capturing portraits with Belle standing alongside Dazzle as they shared those unspoken moments of connection. Belle's sister, nieces and nephew drove down from Newcastle to also be in some images, and we captured a variety of candid and posed photos with them. From there, we moved next to the sand arena as the sun began to set, casting a golden light across the space. Dazzle seemed so calm and at peace, and loved all the attention he received.

Our final moments were spent in the purpose-built stables, a place filled with memories of countless hours together. In this quiet space, Belle had some intimate moments with Dazzle, leaning close to him and holding him tightly. The stillness and love in these moments were incredibly moving, and I felt honoured to capture these precious final images.

At her viewing and ordering appointment, Belle chose to purchase all the digital files from the session, along with an 8" x 10" photo album as a lasting tribute. It was a privilege to be part of this emotional farewell, preserving the memories and love that Belle and Dazzle have shared for a lifetime.
