I have to admit I have a soft spot for Border Collie's, and R2D2 is no exception!
R2D2 is a young Border Collie who competes in flyball competitions, but I can easily see him as a part time model on the side. He was amazing, posing in many different spots throughout our photo session location of Castle Hill Heritage Park. His pet parent, Christa, received a photo session voucher from her daughter who I've already taken photos for.
We may not have had perfect sunshine, but the thin cloud cover gave us plenty of even light. We began our session in the furthest paddock from the car park away from the playground, which makes for a really quiet spot. Through the paddock is a pebbled path which creates lots of beautiful leading lines, and I asked Christa to position R2D2 in the middle of the path in a variety of poses. Throughout a session I like to have plenty of breaks, sometimes this is just sitting and relaxing, letting a dog sniff and explore the environment or let the dog have a quick run around. Since R2D2's recall was perfect, we opted for a quick zoomies moment and I captured some action images at the same time.
We then moved to under a tree which had just dropped its little red flowers which really popped with R2D2's brown coat. Spring sessions are always colourful thanks to jacaranda's and other natives flowering. Not too far from the red flowers was a perfectly manicured hedge along a concrete path as well as a stone wall which we posed R2D2 on.
Our last lot of images was once again full of action. This time we brought a ball out for some fetch images too, which R2D2 was most enthusiastic about.
During our viewing and ordering appointment Christa chose to have 39 of her favourite images printed in a custom photo album, as well as her favourite image as an acrylic block. Below are just a few of the images featured in the album.
