I remember first meeting Patches during the first few months of volunteering at the Hawkesbury Animal Shelter. The pound was full, and a lovely lady by the name of Rachel came in to see which dog she could foster. Rachel owns a dog walking and pet sitting business, and therefore has dogs coming and going all the time. Most dogs can get upset by this, so she decided to foster a dog until it found its forever home. During her visit to the pound that day, she decided to foster Patches. But, little did she know, Patches was to become the best foster brother she could ask for!
The constant coming and going of dogs didn't bother him one bit, and it only took a few weeks until Rachel decided to keep Patches. This is what we call a foster fail, the dog went into foster care but was adopted by the foster carer.
Since then Rachel has helped out Rescue Hub a lot with fostering other dogs. So, when it came to photographing for the Canines of Character book we decided to include Patches in the book.
We selected a nice waterfront beach in Five Dock to have the session at, as Patches loves the beach. It was a perfect afternoon with light cloud over and the sun peaking out every now and again.
As an added surprise and thank you gift to Rachel, Rescue Hub purchased and delivered three acrylic blocks of Patches.
