I love capturing black background sessions of horses, it is like creating works of art for their owners. Each horse poses differently, and bring their own style to the photos.
Claire purchased a Horses Birthday session offer, and chose to have her horses photographed in the back background style. Her two ponies, Ollie the Riding Pony and Treasure the Australia Pony, were amazing for their session. We began with taking photos of Ollie, first with the photo halter then with his double bridle. The reason I begin with the photo halter is to prevent the horse or pony getting small sweat marks on their face then having to remove them in Photoshop for the halter images. So, to prevent this, we begin with the halter and end with the bridle.
With all black background sessions I ask the owner to stand their horse up in different positions to capture a wide variety of poses. Some of the standard ones are a full length body shot, nice head shot and then standing the horse up at slight angles and getting them to turn their heads from side to side.
Once I've captured all the various poses in the halter, I repeat the process with a bridle. Treasure we just captured images of him in the photo halter as he is a retired show horse now and Claire just wanted relaxed photos of him.
With every black background session I try and put together a collage including each horse from the session so the owner has a photo with both or all their horses together, which simply isn't possible in person.
Claire loved her images, and chose a ten digital file package along side the acrylic block that was included in the photo session experience.
