It’s always a pleasure working with owners who share such a strong bond with their animals, and Kayla is no exception. I've had the privilege of photographing her at various show jumping competitions over the years, where she competes with her two stunning Thoroughbred horses, Allie and Jazz. This time, I met her on the family property for a private photo session with her show jumping superstars.
We began our session beneath the sweeping branches of a beautiful willow tree. We began the session with Kayla posing alongside Allie for about 15 minutes, then switching to Kayla with Jazz. Once we had captured those moments, we brought all three together for some group photos.
After capturing those initial moments, we switched things up. We exchanged the horses’ bridles for my photo halter, a tool I love using. Once edited, it creates the illusion that the horses are wearing nothing at all, allowing their natural beauty to shine through without any distractions.
We then moved to another part of the property, where the sun was beginning to set, casting a golden glow through the hedges. It was the perfect setting to capture more images of Kayla and Allie together. The light was magical, and it added a soft, ethereal quality to the photos that I knew Kayla would love.
And she did. During our viewing and ordering appointment, Kayla was thrilled with the images. She ended up choosing my twenty digital file package, which means she’ll have a lovely collection of memories from this session to treasure, plus a 5" x 7" acrylic block.
This photo session was a reminder of why I love what I do, capturing the special relationships between people and their animals in a way that tells their unique story. Kayla, Allie, and Jazz certainly have a story worth telling.
