In a picturesque agistment property in Arcadia, a beautiful sunny afternoon set the stage for a special photo session with Jayne and her dressage Warmblood gelding, Quinto26, affectionately known as Quinnie.
This photo session experience was a gift from Jayne's son and we started by capturing images of Quinnie's by himself in the shade of trees along one of the driveways. He was a pro at posing, and, with the help of a whinny app on my phone, he kept his ears forward the entire time which made my job very easy.
We then moved to a nearby grassy field where I captured posed and candid images of Jayne and Quinnie together against the backdrop of rolling hills and a vibrant blue sky. Jayne has worked in media in the past, and was an absolute master at posing, she barely needed any direction from me!
A quick wardrobe change added variety to our session. While Jayne changed into her riding attire, I noticed that the wash bay in the stables would make a perfect spot to capture some black background images. Unfortunately it was a typical hot and muggy Summer's afternoon, so we had a lot of flies to deal with. Quinnie was a good boy, but after 5 minutes the flies were too much and we changed locations. 5 minutes was all I needed, and Jayne ended up picking one black background image during her viewing and ordering appointment (photo below).
The newly graded arena was our second last spot on the property, and the sun set perfectly through the trees gave us some natural golden afternoon light. Like before, we captured a variety of formal and candid poses.
As the session drew to a close, we took advantage of an old wooden seat facing the stable block. Jayne sat on the seat with Quinnie standing tall and proud behind her. The arena was behind them, and really brought the image together.
My photo session with Jayne and Quinto26 was a tribute to the elegance and harmony of dressage. Each photograph captured the unique connection between Jayne and Quinnie, preserving their partnership in a timeless manner. These images will serve as cherished reminders of their journey together, a testament to the unspoken language and artistry that defines the world of dressage.
