I recently had the pleasure of photographing Coco the chocolate Labrador for the third time. This session, however, was a bit different. Instead of focusing solely on capturing Coco’s adorable portraits, the goal was to create lasting memories of Coco with her loving family.
Before the session Payel, Coco’s pet parent, received a custom bandana designed specifically for Coco's session. I love it when people incorporate sentimental items into their sessions, it really adds a personal touch. We started the session with a few portraits of Coco and her new bandana, then the family portraits began on the grass.
Next, we moved to a little stone ledge further along the path. Coco, safely on a lead, posed like she was born to her entire life. The lead was edited out in the final images to follow the park’s on-lead policy. Payel and her son then joined Coco for some heart-warming family portraits. We even took a few portraits of Payel and her son without Coco, capturing special moments between them.
Our second-to-last spot was the old brick stairs just around the corner from the stone ledge. Coco, Payel, and her son sat together for a mix of posed and candid images. Finally, we ended the session with my favourite type of images: silhouettes. The fading light created a stunning backdrop, casting striking silhouettes that perfectly captured the end of a memorable day.
Payel was thrilled with the images, choosing the twenty digital file package along with an 11" x 14" canvas and an 8" x 12" acrylic block. These memories will undoubtedly hold a special place in their home, a testament to the love and joy Coco brings to the family.
