Caesar and Cali's photo session in Oakdale

4 October, 2024

Recently I had the pleasure of photographing Caesar, a Rottweiler cross Labrador, and Cali, a Golden Retriever, in an incredible 5-acre private paddock in Oakdale booked by their pet parent, Sonia. The space had plenty of room for these two to roam, with a small dam adding a touch of natural beauty to the scene.

We started the session with some lovely posed shots of Caesar and Cali, both individually and group shots. Caesar’s strong, protective nature balanced perfectly with Cali’s playful and loving energy, making for some beautiful images. Once we got the posed shots out of the way, it was time to let them loose!

Watching them run and show their true personalities was the highlight of the day. Caesar absolutely loves the water, and spent most of his time running or swimming through it. Cali tried to keep up, but preferred to splash around on the shore waiting for Caesar to return. Capturing those candid moments—tails wagging, tongues out, and pure joy in their eyes—was such a treat.

Sonia was overjoyed with how the photos turned out. During her viewing and ordering appointment, she chose my ten digital file collection to cherish these moments forever. I’m so glad we got to document the playful spirit of these two in such a beautiful, open setting.
